PlayStation 5 Pro : Sony verified the PlayStation 5 Pro wouldn’t be available in India for this specific reason.

PlayStation 5 Pro : Sony confirmed that the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) will not be launched in India due to regulatory constraints. According to an official statement shared with FE.com, the PS5 Pro operates on the 6GHz wireless spectrum under IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7), which is currently prohibited in India. As a result, the improved console will remain unavailable in the country for the time being.

The PlayStation 5 Pro launched worldwide on November 7.

The PlayStation 5 Pro, which launched globally on November 7, provides a significant performance boost over the standard PS5. Key enhancements include a 67 percent faster GPU, improved RAM, and AI-driven upscaling via Sony’s Spectral Super Resolution. The tablet also includes 2TB of storage. Another standout feature of the PS5 Pro is its increased ray tracing capability, which provides more realistic lighting and shadow effects for a fully immersive gaming experience. The PS5 Pro, priced at $699.99 (about RS 59,000), has been eagerly anticipated by gaming lovers throughout the world, but Indian gamers will have to wait or settle for alternatives.

“PS5 Pro will not be shipped to some countries (which presently includes India) where 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been approved,” Sony shared with us.

The PlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will be launched in India.

Meanwhile, Sony will release the PlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Limited Edition collection package in India. Starting November 21, 2024, the special edition PS5 Digital console will be offered for Rs 49,999. The console’s unique appearance and branding commemorate three decades of PlayStation’s influence on the gaming industry.

In addition to the system, Sony is releasing special accessories. The 30th Anniversary Limited Edition controller will be priced at Rs 6,849, while the DualSense Edge Limited Edition controller will cost Rs 20,999. Furthermore, the PS Portal 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will be priced at Rs 20,799. Pre-orders for these products have already begun on Amazon India.

Sony’s statement may upset Indian fans who were looking forward to the PS5 Pro, but Sony hopes that the introduction of the 30th Anniversary collection will serve to mitigate the damage for PlayStation fanatics in India.
