It was agonizing for the Royals, who went from a commanding lead to their fourth consecutive loss — and sixth in eight games.
RR VS LSG : Jaiswal blistering fifty
In the run chase, Jaiswal (74 off 52 balls) continued his blistering form with an entertaining fifty, while 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34 off 20 balls), IPL’s youngest-ever player, made an immediate impression on debut. In a fantastic partnership, the left-handed opening combo smashed 85 runs in 8.4 overs.
Jaiswal, the second opener and nine years older than Suryavanshi, then took control, smashing Shardul for a six, a four, and two maximums off Aiden Markram. Another six from Jaiswal, who was on fire, propelled the Royals to 61 for no loss at the end of the powerplay.
They were cruising at 10 runs per over until Suryavanshi’s entertaining innings of 34 off 20 balls came to an end.
Markram’s slower delivery beat the youngster, and Rishabh Pant made a brilliant stumping. Suryavanshi took the referral but was unsuccessful. He exited the pitch unhappy, after making a strong debut.
Nitish Rana, who had made a half-century in the last encounter for RR, was dismissed for eight runs off seven balls in the tenth over.
The Royals were in a good position with 94 for 2 at the midway point, thanks to Jaiswal.

RR needed 25 runs from the next three overs
RR just needed 25 runs from the next three overs, but Khan turned the game around in the 18th -.
He yorked Jaiswal with the first ball before trapping Parag LBW with a similar delivery on the last.
Earlier, Markram and Ayush Badoni both scored half-centuries to help LSG recover from an early batting slump and register a competitive 180 for 5.
Markram (66 off 45 balls) and Badoni (50 off 34 balls) put up a crucial 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket to rescue the LSG innings after being reduced to 54 for 3 in the eighth over.
Captain Rishabh Pant’s decision to bat first after winning the toss appeared to be backfiring, but Markram and Badoni saved the visiting squad with some outstanding performances.
Abdul Samad then scored 30 not out from only 10 balls down the order, including six fours in Sandeep Sharma’s penultimate over.
Wanindu Hasaranga (2/31) was the Royals’ most successful bowler, with Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, and Sandeep Sharma each taking one wicket.
Archer gifted Markram two fours in his first over, but recovered to dismiss in-form opener Mitchell Marsh (4) in his second over. Shimron Hetmyer made a stunning catch after the batter edged the ball.
Markram was on fire at the other end, but wickets fell around him, including Sandeep’s leg-before dismissal of leading run-scorer Nicholas Pooran (11), who committed far too early to a slower delivery.
LSG were 46 for 2 after the powerplay and in trouble in the eighth over, with Pant falling cheaply for only three runs after scoring 63 against Chennai Super Kings. Before that, his best score was 21.
Pant miscued a Hasaranga delivery that bounced slightly higher than planned, and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel took care of the rest.
With Markram striking two consecutive sixes in the tenth over, LSG were 76 for 3 at the halfway mark.
