Rahul Dravid : On this day, January 11, we celebrate the birthday of Rahul Dravid, one of India’s cricketing greats. His career began at Lord’s in 1996, when he hit a stunning 95 in his debut Test innings, trailing only his teammate Sourav Ganguly, who made a century in the same innings.
It was almost the first occasion in cricket history when two debutants achieved hundreds in the same game. They went on to build an incredible partnership, breaking the world record for the longest one-day stand of 318 runs against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup in Taunton.

In the year 2002, Dravid scored four consecutive Test hundreds. This includes an unforgettable 148 at Headingley against England. Headingley was the setting for India’s rare overseas victory. He continued his success on India’s 2003-04 tour of Australia, where he played an important role in the historic victory. He batted for an incredible 835 minutes, making 233 runs and an undefeated 72 in the second Test to lead India to a historic victory.
