Chad Bowes, a New Zealand cricketer, smashed the List-A records by scoring the fastest century in List-A cricket. Bowes, who has played six ODIs and 11 T20Is for New Zealand, went on to hit his first List-A double century and career-high total in the Ford Trophy match between the Canterbury Kings and the Otago Volts at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The 32-year-old hit a double century in just 103 balls, shattering Travis Head and N Jagadeesan’s records.
Head (South Australia) and Jagadeesan (Tamil Nadu) maintained the List-A record for a double 100 off 114 deliveries. Head was next on the list, scoring a 117-ball double 100 for South Australia during the Marsh Cup. Ben Duckett of England was next, with a 123-ball double hundred for England A, followed by Sanju Samson of Kerala, who reached the milestone in 125 deliveries.

Bowes’ lengthy hit ended right after he reached the milestone, but for 205, he ensured that the Kings poured on huge scoreboard pressure on the Volts. Bowes came out firing when the Vols decided to field first. Bowes’ first century came off just 53 balls, and he followed it up with a century in fifty overs in his 100th List-A match.

With many Kiwi players withdrawing from the central contract list, Bowes, who last played for the Black Caps in September against Bangladesh last year, might be considered for white-ball selection again.
