On May 4, 2025, the Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district will open to tourists at 6 a.m. This statement was delivered during a ceremony on Basant Panchami, a special day in the Hindu calendar. The date was picked following special prayers at Narendra Nagar’s erstwhile royal court, where royal priest Acharya Krishna Prasad Uniyal performed procedures to identify the most auspicious moment for the opening.
Notable figures in present were the former Maharaja of Tehri, Manvendra Shah, as well as various religious officials. The temple is one of the four Char Dham temples, alongside Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. These temples typically close after Diwali and reopen to pilgrims in April or May.
