‘Let’s safeguard the ideals of our Constitution,’ says Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 76th Republic Day

On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent warm congratulations to the nation. In his statement, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the importance of this momentous day and India’s path since becoming a republic.

He turned to X to express his emotions by writing, “Today marks the 76th anniversary of our wonderful republic. On this occasion, we pay tribute to all of the great personalities who draughted our Constitution and assured that our growth journey is founded on democracy, dignity, and togetherness.”

He commended and respected the early innovators and visionaries who draughted India’s Constitution, which provided the groundwork for a democratic, united, and successful country. According to the Prime Minister, their contributions have aided India in accomplishing its objectives while keeping democracy and equality at the forefront of the country’s growth.

PM Modi also stressed the significance of Republic Day in reminding citizens of their common ideals and commitment to progress. “We hope that this national celebration will preserve the values of our Constitution and further strengthen our efforts towards building a strong and prosperous India,” he added. He emphasised the need of staying faithful to the principles that have been a cornerstone of India’s prosperity over the years.

Tight security in Delhi

The Delhi Police have made substantial security measures for Republic Day. Along with the Delhi Police, paramilitary forces are on high alert, with 70,000 soldiers deployed throughout the capital. To improve surveillance, modern facial recognition technologies and CCTV cameras have been deployed in numerous locations. An air defence system will be deployed to closely monitor the airspace. According to Delhi Police, a six-layer security system has been established to ensure public safety during the Republic Day celebrations.

15,000 soldiers have been positioned along the duty path, and security has been tightened at all Delhi borders. Barricades are placed in place throughout the city, and 2,500 CCTV cameras are deployed to observe events in real time. Furthermore, the National Security Guard (NSG) dog squad has been stationed at several locations, and anti-drone and anti-aircraft weapons have been deployed. To safeguard the safety of civilians and dignitaries during this national occasion, the entire city has been skilfully turned into a high-security zone resembling a cantonment.
