Kesco plans to completely eliminate the billing problem within the next two years. Every day, consumers complain to the electric office that they have not received their bills. Kesco officials plan to install smart meters in the homes of 6.5 lakh customers during the next two years. Smart meters are currently deployed in one and a half lakh residences. Kesco will spend Rs 582 crore on this project.

Meters are being checked in 30,000 homes
Kesco is currently putting bill meters in the houses of thirty thousand customers. Their results are being evaluated. Kesco has created a consumer app for the convenience of its customers. The consumer will be able to examine the calculation of how many units of electricity were used in a day. With the use of this system, billing meters will be completely abolished. According to officials, only meters with a power output greater than 25 kilowatts would be billed. Aside from that, only smart prepaid meters will be put in each property.

Kesco Director Rakesh Varshney stated that the company will install smart prepayment meters in every consumer’s home. Those who currently have meters installed will not be charged to install these meters. Meters with capacity greater than 25 kilowatts will be billed. Customers will also be able to see how many units of electricity were spent per day for how many rupees using the Kesco app.
