Fresh Traffic Challan : Major Update! If the traffic challan sum is not submitted within 90 days, harsh action will be taken, according to the order issued.

0

Fresh Traffic Challan: In Bihar, the transportation agency has been more stringent about adhering to traffic rules. The department has established a time limit for paying the challan sum. If the challan penalty is not paid within 90 days, the vehicle will be blacklisted. Following this, the car owner will be unable to obtain vehicle fitness, pollution, ownership transfer, and other services. This means that the vehicle will be entirely worthless.

In fact, a departmental assessment discovered that even after the challan is issued, many do not pay the fine for a year. In light of this laziness, the department has urged all districts to adopt strong measures. After the new system is implemented, when people disobey traffic regulations and receive a message on their mobile device, the vehicle owner is notified that their challan was issued. The fine will have to be paid within 90 days of receiving the message .

Fresh Traffic Challan : Violators are caught using cameras

A control and command center at Gandhi Maidan has been established to supervise the e-challan issuance system. The traffic system can be completely observed here, thanks to cameras set across the capital. E-challans are issued via these cameras for failing to wear helmets or seat belts, breaching traffic signals or stop lights, exceeding speed limits, triple riding, and so on.

Fresh Traffic Challan : 350 ANPR cameras are scheduled to be placed soon.

The goal is to have 350 ANPR cameras installed throughout the state by April of next year. ANPR cameras are also being put in Bihar Sharif, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur, specifically as part of the Smart City project. The Transport Department has requested a list of chosen districts’ ANPR camera locations. There are plans to put such cameras in the Patna area as well.

According to the departmental evaluation, even after a challan is issued, people do not pay the fine for one year. As a result of this laziness, the department has urged all districts to take harsh action.

MS Dhoni : CSK try to create strategy as MS Dhoni explains IPL future plans before of retentions.

0

MS Dhoni : CSK franchise is trying to expand its player retention strategy after former captain MS Dhoni revealed his aspirations for the IPL in the future. Dhoni recently stated that he intends to enjoy the last few years of his cricket career.

“I simply want to enjoy every moment of cricket that I can play,” Dhoni told . “When you play cricket as a professional sport, it’s difficult to enjoy it as a game.” That is what I would like to do. It’s difficult.

“The emotions continue to flow, and the commitments remain. I hope to continue enjoying the game for the next few years. I have to stay in shape for nine months in order to play in the IPL for two and a half months. You should plan ahead of time, but also relax,” he added.

Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the franchise, has now spoken out about the development. “What else do we want (when he’s ready). “We are pleased,” Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.

According to the report, Dhoni would call the team owner, N Srinivasan, to finalise the list of retentions. The final deadline to confirm retentions is October 31, and franchises can keep up to six players, with a maximum of five capped.

Dhoni would remain uncapped after the IPL Governing Council reinstated the regulation that had been suspended in 2021. The five-time champions plan to pay Dhoni INR 4 crore for the forthcoming season. “A certified Indian player shall become uncapped if, in the five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant Season is played, the player has not appeared in the starting XI in International Cricket (Test match, ODI, Twenty20 International) or does not hold a Central Contract with the BCCI.” The rule states that this will only be applicable to Indian players.

Notably, according to Cricbuzz, CSK will retain Ravindra Jadeja as their first pick for INR 18 crore, followed by skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for INR 14 crore. Matheesha Pathirana has accepted to be the third retainer for INR 11 crore.

In addition to the four players listed above, the five-time champions can keep two extra players. Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and uncapped Sameer Rizvi are all potential choices.

Will MS Dhoni remain uncapped?

CSK may keep the five-time IPL winning skipper as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore, given he has not played for the BCCI or national team in five years.

Dhoni resigned as CSK captain earlier this year, and Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the squad in the 2024 IPL season.

Dhoni had given Ravindra Jadeja the captaincy of CSK in 2022, but the World Cup-winning skipper returned midway through the season. In 2023, Dhoni led CSK to their fifth IPL championship.

Dhoni is an important component of CSK, and the team owners are allegedly eager to keep him on board. According to multiple sources, CSK management plans to meet with Dhoni next week to decide on his future with the organization.

CSK did not qualify for the playoffs in the IPL 2024 after losing a key league stage game against  RCB.

MS Dhoni proved his six-hitting prowess in the IPL 2024, hitting 13 sixes. It is worth noting that he only faced 73 balls in the entire competition. Aside with 13 sixes, Dhoni also managed to reach 14 hours.

5 Days of Banking: Will banks be open five days a week beginning in December? This will be the new timing for the branch opening and closing.

0

5 Days of Banking: The government has the authority to accept a proposal for bank staff in India to work five days per week. The Finance Ministry can approve a request to close bank branches for two days in December 2024. If this system is followed, banks will be closed every Saturday and Sunday. Banks are currently closed exclusively on Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. This has the potential to be a significant milestone in the banking system. This is a key step towards improving the work-life balance of banking personnel. The Indian Banks Association (IBA) and staff unions have reached an agreement on this problem. For a long time, bank staff demanded 5-day work weeks.

If the government adopts this plan, bank staff will have Saturday and Sunday off. This will extend the working hours by 40 minutes per day. Banks are typically open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but this may soon alter to 9 a.m. to 5:40 p. However, some branches continue to open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

5 Days of Banking: Monday through Friday, banks will be open for an extra 40 minutes.

The Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the staff unions have achieved an agreement. Bank staff unions have stated that this will not result in reduced customer service hours. In addition, a suggestion has been made to expand working hours by 40 minutes. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in December 2023 between the IBA and bank unions representing public and private sector banks. Following this, on March 8, 2024, the IBA and the All India Bank Officers Confederation issued a joint statement providing information regarding working five days a week and weekend holidays.

When will the government let banks take two days off?

In a September 2024 post on X, the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) requested that the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister’s Office approve this proposal as soon as possible. AIBOC stated that this is vital for the well-being of bank personnel and to improve the banking sector’s productivity. According to sources, bank staff unions expect the government to deliver the notice before the end of the year or early in 2025.

The government last gave a holiday on two Saturdays in 2015.

Once authorized, Saturdays will be recognized as official holidays under Section 25 of the Indian Unions Act. Banks are currently closed on just the second and fourth Saturdays. Since 2015, bank unions have been demanding all-day Saturday and Sunday holidays. The RBI and the government agreed with the IBA to announce holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays as part of the tenth bilateral agreement in 2015.

5 Days of Banking: Bank staff will profit

Customers will need to confirm the hours of operation of local branches once the revised list is available. The ultimate decision of the national government can help to maintain the work-life balance of bank employees across India. A senior bank official stated that a 5-day work week would be extremely advantageous for bank staff, allowing them to recharge and enhance production. Banking professionals have been eagerly awaiting government permission for quite some time. The administration is scheduled to reach a resolution by December 2024.

The Indian government may approve a proposal to require bank staff to work five days a week. The Finance Ministry may approve a proposal to close bank branches for two days by December 2024. If this plan is adopted, banks will be closed every Saturday and Sunday.

UP Expressway : This 380-kilometer-long Expressway will link 9 Uttar Pradesh districts

0

UP Expressway : According to reports, a big project will be added to Uttar Pradesh’s developing expressway network. According to reports, the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway, a 380-kilometer greenfield expressway from Ghaziabad to Kanpur, is now under development. This expressway will be an important link, reducing the distance between Ghaziabad and Kanpur significantly.

UP Expressway Will connect 9 districts

According to sources, it will also link nine districts in Uttar Pradesh. These districts are Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur.According to reports, it now takes 7-8 hours to go from Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kanpur. According to sources, the travel will take only 5 hours and 30 minutes after construction is completed.

This expressway will provide numerous benefits in addition to lowering travel time. This will improve traffic flow and lead to the creation of industrial parks in the aforementioned nine areas. Special regions for industrial development are defined in the highway plan.

This highway is expected to connect with the Kanpur-Lucknow highway in the south and the NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway) in the north. Originally, the aim was to build this project from Hapur to Kanpur. A 60-kilometer-long connector road will be built to connect Hapur to the Meerut Expressway. This would lead to improved connectivity for both Hapur and Meerut.

According to sources, the 380-kilometer greenfield expressway’s initial construction will be limited to four lanes. This can be enlarged to six lanes in the future. This expressway is important for its eventual connectivity to Noida’s Jewar Airport, also known as Noida International Airport. This functionality will make it easy for Kanpur to link with Delhi or Ghaziabad.

According to sources, the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway is anticipated to be finished by 2026. The completion of the expressway will also make it easy to travel from Delhi-NCR to Kanpur and other cities in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in an enormous shift in the state’s traffic and industrial landscape.

UP Expressway will consist of four lanes

According to the report, it will start as a four-lane highway and can be enlarged to six lanes later.

Time will be reduced

There would be relief from traffic bottlenecks on the way to Kanpur from New Delhi and the nearby districts. On the other side, time will be saved.

Distances will be minimized

After the expressway is completed, the journey from Ghaziabad to Kanpur will take approximately 5.30 hours. This expressway is intended to eventually connect Kanpur to Jewar Airport in Noida.

Where will it be linked?

The northern part will be linked to NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway), while the southern end would link to the 62.7-kilometer Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway.

It will connect to the Meerut Expressway

Originally, it was planned to go from Hapur to Kanpur, but that was modified. A 60-kilometre connector road will be built to connect Hapur to the expressway. This expressway will also link up with the Meerut Expressway in Hapur.

Many cities will benefit from UP Expressway

After the highway connecting Ghaziabad and Kanpur is completed, connectivity to numerous cities in Uttar Pradesh from Delhi-NCR will be improved. This freeway is under construction. According to media reports, it will be completed by 2026.

So far, Uttar Pradesh has benefited from numerous expressways. The state’s expressway network is steadily increasing. Another expressway will be added to this list shortly. A 380-kilometer-long expressway is being built between Noida and Kanpur, which borders Delhi.

McDonald’s : According to McDonald’s, onions grown in California have been linked to a deadly E. coli an outbreak

0

McDonald’s officials revealed that fresh onions linked to a fatal E. Coli food poisoning crisis at the restaurant chain were sourced from a California-based agricultural supplier. Other fast-food restaurants, including Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell, have eliminated onions from their menus in the interim.

According to McDonald’s officials, the fast-food chain banned Quarter Pounder hamburgers from many states after Taylor Farms in Salinas, California, provided onions to one distribution plant. McDonald’s did not provide a specific location. A burger-related outbreak has infected at least 49 people in ten states, including one who died, according to federal health officials. Investigators claimed slivered onions were a potential source of the infections.

US Foods, a major supplier to restaurants across the country, reported on Thursday that Taylor Farms had recalled whole and chopped yellow onions that had been peeled this week due to potential E. Coli contamination. According to a US Foods spokesman, the recalled onions came from a Taylor Farms factory in Colorado. The wholesaler did, however, explain that it was not a McDonald’s supplier and that no items sold in the fast-food chain’s restaurants were affected by the recall.

What concerning the other businesses?

Other national restaurant chains temporarily stopped using fresh onions in the interim. Yum Brands released the following statement: “We have aggressively removed fresh onions from selected Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC restaurants, as we continuing to monitor the recently reported E Coli outbreak, and out of an abundance of caution.”

Table of Contents

Based in Louisville, Kentucky. Yum Brands did not say whether it employs the same supplier as McDonald’s or where the onions were taken out. Yum Brands indicated that it will continue to follow the guidance offered by regulators and suppliers.

The symptoms of E. Coli

E. Coli poisoning symptoms may occur a day or two after consuming contaminated food. Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody diarrhea, and signs of dehydration, such as increased thirst, dizziness, and little to no urination, are common. Children under the age of five, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to the virus.

McDonald’s incident

In the McDonald’s incident, at least ten people have been hospitalized, including a toddler who developed a severe kidney illness complication as a result of his infection. The illnesses were diagnosed between September 27 and October 11, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The victims were infected with E. coli 0157:H7, a bacterium that produces a deadly toxin. It causes over 74,000 infections in the United States each year, resulting in over 2,000 hospitalizations and 61 fatalities, according to the CDC.

A guy from Greeley, Colorado, is suing McDonald’s after developing an E. coli illness. Eric Stelly claimed in a lawsuit filed this week that he became ill two days after eating at a local McDonald’s on October 4. After he sought emergency treatment, health officials confirmed that his infection was part of the outbreak.

Symptoms of E. coli poisoning can develop fast, within a day or two of ingesting infected food. They often include fever, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, as well as indicators of dehydration such as decreased urinating, increased thirst, and dizziness. The illness is particularly deadly for children under the age of five, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems.

Gift Tax 2024: Do you have to pay taxes on Diwali gifts? Know the guidelines

0

Gift Tax : Diwali, or the Hindu festival of Lights, is a time of happiness, celebration, and gift exchange. Giving and receiving gifts, whether in the form of cash, jewelry, or other costly objects, is an important element of Indian culture, especially around Diwali. However, from a tax viewpoint, many people are still unsure about the tax implications of gifts. Do Diwali presents trigger taxes, and if so, what are the rules?

Understanding the Fundamentals of Gift Tax in India

In India, presents were taxed by the Gift Tax Act of 1958, but the Act was repealed in 1998. However, certain laws relating to gift taxation were reintroduced in 2004 under the Income Tax Act of 1961. According to these laws, gifts received by an individual or Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) that surpass a certain amount are deemed income and are taxed.

Section 56(2)(x) of the tax code specifies how gifts are taxed. The provisions apply to all types of presents, including those received during holidays such as Diwali. Gifts might include cash, moveable or immovable property, and even financial instruments. However, every taxpayer should be aware of specific exemptions and restrictions in order to avoid any tax liabilities.

What types of gifts are taxable?

According to Section 56(2)(x), the following forms of gifts are taxed if their total value exceeds Rs 50,000 in a financial year:

  1. Monetary gifts include cash, checks, or bank transfers.
  2. Movable Property: Jewelry, stocks and securities, bullion, artwork, etc.
  3. Immovable Property: Land, buildings, and other real estate.

If the total value of gifts in these categories exceeds Rs 50,000 in a given fiscal year, the full amount is treated as “Income from Other Sources” and added to the recipient’s taxable earnings.

Exemptions for Gift Tax

While the law requires that donations above Rs 50,000 be taxed, many exclusions exist to allow recipients avoid taxation. The important exemptions are as follows:

1.Gifts from Relatives: Any gift from a “relative” is tax deductible, regardless of its value. In accordance with the Income Tax Act, relatives include:

  • The individual’s spouse
  • sibling (brother or sister)
  • Parents and grandparent
  • Children (son or daughter)
  • Siblings and parents of spouse
  • In-laws (son’s wife or daughter’s spouse).

For example, if your parents give you Rs 1 lakh in gold jewelry for Diwali, it is not taxable because it falls under the exemption for gifts from relatives.

  1. Gifts Received on Special Occasions: Wedding gifts, regardless of who the donor is, are exempt from taxation. This exemption, however, is only applicable to weddings and does not extend to other special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or festivals such as Diwali.
  2. Gifts from Friends or Non-Relatives: If the total value of gifts from friends or non-relatives exceeds Rs 50,000 in a fiscal year, they are taxable. If the value of such presents does not exceed Rs 50,000, they are not taxed.
  3. Inheritances: Any property or money inherited or acquired through a will is not considered taxable income. This includes inherited properties from previous generations.
  4. Gifts to Charitable Institutions: If you make a contribution to a charitable institution or trust, it is not taxed, and you may be eligible for Section 80G tax breaks, depending on the type of nonprofit organization.

Taxation of Employer Gifts during Diwali

Employers frequently give their employees presents during Diwali, such as coupons, electronics, or bonuses. These gifts are taxed based on their value and form.

  1. Cash Gifts: If the employer gives the employee cash, it is completely taxable as part of their compensation.
  2. Non-Cash presents: Non-cash presents (such as vouchers, electronics, or appliances) worth up to Rs 5,000 are tax-free. If the value of non-cash presents exceeds Rs 5,000, the excess amount is added to the employee’s taxable salary and taxed at the applicable income tax rate.
  3. Bonus Payments are made Any Diwali bonus provided by the company is considered part of the employee’s salary and is fully taxed.

Recording and Reporting of Gifts

It is critical to keep track of presents received, especially if they are large in value. If the total value of gifts exceeds Rs 50,000, the taxpayer must record this under “Income from Other Sources” while completing their income tax return (ITR).

Furthermore, for high-value gifts such as property or luxury items, it is recommended that the transactions be thoroughly documented, including the donor’s information, to avoid tax audits.

Conclusion

While Diwali is a time of joy and generosity, it is critical to keep knowledgeable about the tax implications of presents. Gifts in India are taxable if they exceed Rs 50,000 in a fiscal year, unless they originate from an exempt source, such as relatives or weddings. As a responsible taxpayer, you should be aware of the applicable exemptions and thresholds to avoid unexpected tax liabilities. Celebrate Diwali with love and pleasure, but make sure you understand your tax requirements.
