New Year: Indian cities celebrate as they welcome 2025 with dance, hugs, and prayers.

New Year: As the clock struck midnight, towns throughout India welcomed the joy of the new year 2025. The thrill and beautiful spectacle began around the country as people said farewell to 2024. Cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai, among others, became tourist hotspots, with shining streets, echoing music, and happy giggles all around.

Here’s how major cities in India began their New Year festivities:

Celebration in Bengaluru

The “Silicon Valley of India” began its celebrations in great style as the clock approached midnight. Crowds have gathered from all directions to celebrate midnight in Bengaluru’s bustling streets, particularly those near MG Road and Koramangala. As a precaution, all police deployments have been reinforced, and the city has over 7,500 CCTV cameras deployed throughout. G. Parameshwara, Karnataka’s Home Minister, issued special orders to strengthen police deployment and pickets in the case of an adverse accident or event. Crackers crackled, and the night sky lighted up with fireworks as the city celebrated.

Delhi-NCR

At midnight on New Year’s Eve, Delhi and its surrounding towns of Gurugram and Noida erupted in celebrations as 2025 arrived. In preparation, several cities have increased police patrols. The streets were alive with sounds and sights, including fireworks. The Delhi Police made extensive preparations for a quiet night, with personnel reporting from the ground and CCTV surveillance in place.

All roads leading to Connaught Place, including KG Marg, Parliament Street, Barakhamba Road, and Janpath, have been closed to traffic, and police are asking commuters to take alternate routes. As a result, there was significant traffic in central Delhi, and they were also congratulated and handed awards.

Mumbai celebrates New Year with glittering sky

Mumbai welcomed the New Year with glowing streets and many wailing voices. The City of Dreams had been up all night. People travelled to renowned destinations like Marine Drive, Colaba, and Juhu Beach to celebrate with friends and family. People exchanged warm greetings, danced to live music, and revelled in the joyful atmosphere as the city’s famed skyline was lit up by a stunning display of fireworks. Mumbai Police had organised for additional security and crowd control measures to guarantee a calm celebration around the city, which welcomed the new year with its usual enthusiasm and vibrancy.

Vrindavan

The year 2025 was greeted in the city’s temples with passion unrivalled even by Prem Mandir, where priests recited sacred mantras and thousands of guests gathered to experience the auspicious and enjoyable rituals for ushering in the new year. The divine celebration-drenched evening, complete with warm festival lights, provided the right setting for the year’s tranquil, spiritual initiation. It was repeated in other parts of Mathura and Vrindavan, where temples, ashrams, and other places of worship invited multitudes to gather and celebrate in the real spirit of devotion to celebration.

Kullu-Manali

Various places in Himachal Pradesh, notably Kullu and Manali, saw enormous throngs of people travelling from all over India to celebrate New Year. Kullu’s visuals show brightened streets, joyful people, a lit sky, and loud music as they enthusiastically greet 2025.
