Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh’s interim administration, is considering resigning since political parties have failed to reach an agreement, according to student-led National Citizen Party (NCP) president Nhid Islam.
“We’ve been hearing about Sir Yunus’ resignation since this morning. So I went to meet Sir to talk about it. He stated he is considering it. He believes the circumstances prevent him from working,” Islam told BBC Bangla.
According to the NCP convenor, Chief Adviser Yunus expressed concern that he would be unable to function in the country’s current condition, stating, “I won’t be able to work unless the political parties can reach an agreement.”
In February of this year, the NCP leader, who came out in public with Yunus’ approval, said he counseled Yunus to “stay strong for the sake of the country’s security and future, and to meet the expectations of the mass uprising.”

Islam stated
He told the main adviser that “I hope everyone will cooperate with him” and that he wanted political groups to unite and work with him, according to Islam.
“If the political party wants him to resign now… why will he stay if he does not get that place of trust, that place of assurance?” the NCP leader added, arguing that it would be pointless for Yunus to remain if he was incapable of carrying out his duties.
Muhammad Yunus government has faced various hurdles in the last two days
Yunus’ government has faced various hurdles in the last two days, the most serious of which were Bangladesh’s apparently consolidated military forces, which played a critical role in the previous year’s student-led insurrection.

The army was called in to put an end to the uprising, but they decided not to use force against the demonstrators. The movement overthrew the Awami League government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and put Yunus in charge.
The military, on the other hand, lent its hand for Hasina’s safe departure to India by utilizing an air force plane and appointing Yunus as top adviser, effectively the prime minister, in accordance with the demand of Students against Discrimination (SAD), a substantial portion of which has now emerged as NCP.
