Blinken’s visit coincided with heightened tensions in Lebanon, where an Israeli bombing killed at least 18 people, including children, near a governmental hospital in Beirut. Despite ongoing efforts to mediate a cease-fire, Blinken expressed hope that Sinwar’s death might lead to a possible peace accord.
