Greece, the May Council president, has scheduled the meeting on May 5 in the afternoon.

Speaking to reporters from the UNSC stake-out on India-Pakistan tensions on Monday, Guterres
Guterres spoke to the press from the UNSC stake-out Monday morning, amid escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors following the April 22 Pahalgam terror assault in Jammu and Kashmir, which murdered 26 civilians, including a Nepali citizen.
Guterres reaffirmed his strong condemnation of the “awful terror attack” in Pahalgam and expressed his sympathy to the victims’ families, saying he knows the “raw feelings” that followed the incident.

Especially at this crucial moment, Guterres emphasized, it is imperative to prevent a military conflict that might quickly spiral out of control.
“The time has come to exercise extreme self-control and pull back from the edge. Throughout my continued outreach to both nations, it has been my message. The UN head stated unequivocally that a military option is not a solution.
Syed Akbaruddin, India’s former Permanent Representative to the UN, told PTI that no “consequential outcome” can be expected from “a discussion in which a party to the conflict seeks to shape perceptions by using its membership in the Council.” India will counter such Pakistani efforts”.
