“Misjudged”: British Minister Criticises Elon Musk’s Political Intervention in the United Kingdom

Elon Musk : Elon Musk’s newest venture into British politics was described as “misjudged and certainly misinformed” by a senior British government minister on Friday.

The day before, the software mogul accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer of failing to bring “rape gangs” to justice while serving as director of public prosecutions.

In a series of tweets on his X platform, Musk also said that Jess Phillips, minister for the prevention of violence against women and girls, “deserves to be in prison” for refusing to call a national public inquiry into a child sexual exploitation crisis in the northern English city of Oldham.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting told ITV News that Musk’s remarks were incorrect and that the government takes child sexual abuse “extremely seriously.”

“Some of the comments that Elon Musk has made, I believe are misjudged and certainly confused, but we’re willing to work with Elon Musk, who I think has got a big role to play with his online platform to help us and other nations to tackle such an important issue,” explained Mr. Musk.

The widespread abuse of girls in several English towns and cities, including Rochdale, Rotherham, and Oldham, which began more than a decade ago, has long sparked outrage.

A series of court trials eventually resulted in the conviction of dozens of men, the most of whom were South Asian Muslims. The victims were vulnerable, mostly white, girls.

A series of government investigations into how police and social workers failed to stop the abuse discovered that in some cases, officials turned a blind eye to avoid seeming discriminatory.

Robinson, who was charged with instigating anti-immigrant riots last summer, was imprisoned in October after admitting to contempt of court in a libel case involving a Syrian refugee.

Musk claimed in one of his X postings on Thursday that Robinson was imprisoned “for speaking the truth” and should be freed.

Swipe at Starmer

The majority of Musk’s letters focused on Robinson’s long-standing spotlighting of past issues involving alleged paedophile grooming gangs in certain English cities.

Musk, who shared several additional tales of child sex abuses spanning decades, stated that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) determines whether to charge suspects.

Starmer was the head of the CPS during that time, but none of the investigations into the scandals singled him out for blame or discovered that he attempted to impede charges owing to worries about alleged Islamophobia.

He later took another shot at Starmer, claiming that his administration had denied the requested investigation “because he is guilty of complicity”.

Later on Friday, Nigel Farage, the leader of the anti-immigrant Reform UK party, weighed in on the debate, disagreeing with Musk on Robinson.

“He sees Robinson as one of the individuals who fought the grooming gangs.” “But, of course, Tommy Robinson is in prison for contempt of court, not for that,” he told right-wing television network GB News.

Robinson had fostered the idea that he was a “political prisoner… but it isn’t quite true,” he explained.

Farage claimed that Musk, with whom he has spoken about the US billionaire donating to his hard-right party, is “very supportive of me, he’s very supportive of the party”.
