According to the lawyers, information acquired from Combs’ cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn was highlighted in papers filed by the government in Manhattan federal court Friday in an attempt to keep Diddy locked up until his trial begins in May.
“This is a matter of serious concern that, most with deference, must be addressed immediately,” the lawyers told Judge Arun Subramanian, who had already scheduled a bail hearing for Combs on Friday. They wanted a “immediate hearing” so that prosecutors could explain who approved the search of Combs’ cell, which seized personal belongings and documentation.

According to authorities, an examination of the taped calls revealed that Diddy instructed his family to contact prospective witnesses in the case. He was also attempting to arrange social media operations aimed at discrediting the jury pool and publicly leaking materials that would be useful to him. The prosecutors stated that he used third parties to contact the witnesses.
According to Diddy’s attorneys, prosecutors admitted in their bail arguments last week that they have “probably privileged materials, such as notes that were recovered from the defendant’s cell”.
