Biden supports Israel’s grisly murder of Hezbollah leader Nasrallah: ‘His death represents an act of punishment for terror victim’

Biden : US President Joe Biden praised Israel on Saturday  for removing Hezbollah commander Hassan Nasrallah, while holding the latter accountable for the deaths of “hundreds of US citizens over a four-decade regime of terror”.According to Joe Biden, the United States strongly supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah and other “Iranian-backed terrorist organizations.” He viewed Nasrallah’s killing as “a kind of justice for his many deaths.”

Joe Biden’s comments about Nasrallah’s death

“Hassan Nasrallah and the militant group he led, Hezbollah, were responsible for the killings of hundreds of Americans throughout four decades of violent conflict. ‘His murder in an Israeli strike serves as a sort of justice for the numerous lives lost under his command, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians,’ President Biden declared in a news release following the Israeli military’s confirmation of the Hezbollah leader’s death.

The US President stated that Nasrallah announced the “fateful judgment” to create a “northern front” against Israel the day after the October 7 Hamas attack on the Jewish land.

“The strike that murdered Nasrallah occurred within the larger framework of the conflict, which began with Hamas’s massacre on October 7, 2023. The next day, Nasrallah took the catastrophic decision to join forces with Hamas and establish what he dubbed a “northern front” against Israel,” Biden stated.

Biden: The US supports Israel’s right to self-defense.

“The USA strongly supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and any additional Iranian-backed terrorist organization. I just authorized my Secretary of Defense to strengthen the defense posture of US military forces in the Middle East to discourage aggression and lessen the likelihood of a larger regional war,” he said.

Biden emphasized that the ultimate goal is to de-escalate the escalating disputes in the region, which are on the verge of full-fledged war with the latest incident.

“Finally, our ultimate objective is to calm down the current crises in Gaza and Lebanon through diplomatic means.” In Gaza, we have been working to reach a cease-fire and hostage-release arrangement approved by the UN Security Council. We have been negotiating an agreement in Lebanon that will allow people to safely return to their homes in Israel and southern Lebanon,” he said.

“It is essential to get these contracts to close, for hazards to Israel to be eliminated and for the entire Middle East region to gain better security,”added the United States president.

Middle East conflicts

The region of the Middle East has been on the verge of war as Israel and Lebanon have launched attacks and responses in recent weeks. The battle may take a new direction following the assassination of Nasrallah, who headed the militant group for more than three decades.

After Nasrallah died, Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV began broadcasting Koranic scriptures. The group declared that Nasrallah “has joined the other martyrs.”

Israel’s five-hour ongoing bombing on Beirut on Friday, targeting Nasrallah, was by far the most powerful attack by Israel on the city during the confrontation with Hezbollah that has been ongoing in parallel with the Gaza war for almost a year now. The escalation has fueled fears that the conflict may spiral out of control, potentially involving Iran, Hezbollah’s primary patron, as well as the United States.

Thousands of people have evacuated the region since Friday’s attack, congregating in squares, parks, and walkways in downtown Beirut and along the coast. A senior Israeli source said on Friday that Israel hopes not to have to launch a ground assault against Hezbollah in Lebanon after attacking the group’s core offices in Beirut.
