Zelensky Ukrainian President stated Tuesday that Vladimir Putin was “afraid” of negotiating an end to the Ukraine war after the Russian president ruled out speaking directly with his Ukrainian counterpart.
“Today, Putin once again proved that he is afraid of conversations, afraid of powerful leaders, and does every detail possible to continue the war,” Zelensky wrote in a post on X.
Putin said discussions with Ukraine are conceivable, but not with Zelensky.
Putin further stated that if the West pulled all backing for Kyiv, the battle would finish in two months or less.
Despite Trump’s promise to implement a rapid ceasefire once in office, the situation shows no indications of de-escalation.
Russia’s army announced Tuesday that it had taken a significant village in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, marking the latest territorial victory for Moscow’s advancing soldiers.

The Russian military ministry announced that its forces had “liberated” the settlement of Dvorichna, which had a pre-conflict population of around 3,000.
The settlement, located across the strategically important Oskil river, was conquered by Moscow at the commencement of its full-scale military effort in 2022, only to be retaken by Kyiv months later in a rapid counter-offensive.
Over the last year, Ukraine’s army has been pushed back, outgunned and outmanned by Russian troops along the 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line.
Ukraine’s government fired a deputy military minister in charge of weapons acquisitions on Tuesday, accusing him of failing to assure soldiers’ “timely supply of ammunition.”
