Shashank Khaitan, who directed the actors in the 2014 popular love movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, recently said that he discovered the power of their chemistry while filming a simple, fun sequence. It was a scene in which Humpty Sharma (Varun Dhawan) attempted to kiss Kavya (Alia Bhatt) and thought they were creating a fantastic film.

Shashank Khaitan shared some touching recollections from the Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania shoot. He revealed that during a scene in which Humpty wants to kiss Kavya after their bond has grown, but she gives him a mild slap and tells him to keep away, he believes they are making a good deal, and the young actors seem united on-screen.

He remarked, “Varun used to tell me, ‘Main kuch extra karu. “Kuch try karu?” he asked, misunderstanding my request for subtle acting. Meanwhile, Alia would interrupt and say, ‘Shut up, he’s right; just trust him.'”
The Dhadak director explained that because it was his first film with Dharma Productions, it was extremely special, and all three of them, who were still in the early stages of their careers, learned and matured together. He went on: “We were discovering this beautiful relationship between ourselves.”
