Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has been issued an arrest warrant in connection with allegations of Provident Fund (PF) fraud. Shadakshari Gopal Reddy, the PF Regional Commissioner, issued the warrant and directed the Pulakeshinagar police to take proper action. Uthappa, who ran Centuries Lifestyle Brand Private Limited, is accused of withholding employees’ Provident Fund payments after deducting them from their salary; the alleged fraud totals Rs 23 lakh.
Commissioner Reddy directed police to carry out the arrest warrant in a letter dated December 4. However, the warrant was returned to the PF office since Uthappa is thought to have moved. The authorities are now stepping up their attempts to find the cricketer and implement the law.
