Healthcare costs in India are rising by 14 percent each year, according to a research

Healthcare costs : The ACKO India Health Insurance Monitor 2024 shows that healthcare costs in the country are rising at a 14% yearly rate.

The index research stated that the country’s healthcare costs are increasing year after year due to double-digit inflation. The message read: “Healthcare inflation was reported at 14 per cent in India.”

The survey also revealed that 23% of hospital charges in the country are covered through borrowings, putting a major impact on families’ financial health.

Healthcare expenditures paid out of cash

With 62% of healthcare expenditures paid out of cash in India, the report emphasized the need for improved health care coverage to protect against unforeseen health crises.

Highlighting the primary ailments in health insurance claims, the research noted that Delhi has emerged as India’s kidney disorder capital, with the biggest share of health insurance claims relating to kidney health.

According to the investigation, Kochi had the largest number of medical insurance claims for kidney disease after the capital.

“Delhi has the greatest rate of kidney illness, followed by Kochi. The Delhi NCR has the largest number of claims related to kidney health. The index research stated that Kochi, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, and Jaipur had a higher share of claims than the national average.

The index also stated that the average age among individuals claiming kidney and renal disorders is 47 years, indicating a major health risk. Notably, the greatest bill reported under the index for kidney-related issues last year was Rs 24,73,894, illustrating the financial burden connected with these health issues.

In as well as renal health, the paper addresses other essential health issues, such as heart disease. It proved that Kolkata and Mumbai had the highest number of claims for heart-related disorders, with a significant increase in hospitalized heart attack cases observed between the ages of 31 and 50.

“Kolkata and Mumbai topping the list of metropolitan areas when it came to disorders of circulatory systems like heart attacks” according to the article.

Furthermore, the analysis showed troubling trends in cancer incidence, estimating a 13% increase between 2020 and 2025.

Meanwhile, the government has recently launched a number of initiatives to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

On the eleventh of September this year, the Government of India Cabinet confirmed health protection for all older persons aged 70 and higher, regardless of money, through the flagship project called Ayushman Bharat or the Pm Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

With this permission, all senior people aged 70 and up, regardless of socioeconomic position, will be eligible for the benefits of this system.
