This is why hundreds of Indians visit Canada each year to work. Foreign citizens must obtain a work permit to work in Canada. Anyone who has a work permit from the Canadian government is free to work in the country.
However, obtaining a Canadian work permit is not that simple. Many conditions must be met in order to qualify, including receiving a ‘Labour Market Impact Assessment’ (LMIA) certificate and having a job offer. Canadian businesses must also notify the government that there is no one in the nation qualified to perform the job for which a foreign citizen is being hired. However, in Canada, some persons are permitted to work without a work authorisation.
Can someone work in Canada without a work permit?
People who come to Canada for business or commerce may work without a work visa under specific conditions. The first requirement is that these individuals do not enter the Canadian job market. The second criteria is that the scope of their work be on an international scale.

Foreign representatives and their families: Foreign representatives are individuals who work in places such as UN offices. They and their family members are permitted to work without a work permit, but must obtain approval from the ‘Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade .
Members of the foreign military: Under the Visiting Forces Act, military or civilian personnel stationed in Canada are permitted to work and study without a work permit. This exemption extends to their family members as well.
On-campus jobs: Foreign students studying in Canada have the option of working without a work permit. They are allowed to work in the country as long as their study permission is valid. It is worth noting, however, that they are only permitted to work on college campuses.
Artists: Artists travelling to Canada to perform are permitted to work without a work permit. Bands performing in clubs, pubs, or restaurants, persons affiliated with international musical or theatrical productions, including crew workers, and artists coming to perform at wedding ceremonies are all permitted to work without a work permit.
Athletes and team members: Professional and amateur athletes can come to Canada for individual or team sports activities. Similarly, international coaches, trainers, and other key team members can travel to Canada to attend these events.
Foreign news reporters and media crews can report on events in Canada without a work permit. This restriction only applies to journalists, whose companies are not based in Canada. If they work for a Canadian news outlet, they will require a work permit.
