Uttarakhand helicopter Crash : 5 people pass away as a helicopter heading to Kedarnath crashes close to Gaurikund

Uttarakhand helicopter Crash : Dr V Murugeshan, the Uttarakhand ADG Law and Order, confirmed on Sunday that the chopper that went missing in Gaurikund had crashed. There were six people on the crashed chopper. They were all thought to have died. Earlier, at 7:44 a.m., it was reported that a helicopter traveling from Dehradun to Kedarnath had gone missing near Gaurikund. According to ADG Murugeshan, the chopper vanished between Trijuginarayan and Gaurikund.

According to reports, the helicopter carrying devotees to Kedarnath crashed owing to severe weather. The helicopter took off at 5 a.m., with six persons aboard, including the pilot. There have been five documented casualties thus far.

The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) issued a statement regarding the incident, stating that teams have been despatched for rescue operations.

“A helicopter flying from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi crashed near Gaurikund at 5:20 a.m. today, according to reports. There were six passengers, including the pilot (five adults and one youngster). The passengers in the chopper are from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. In order to provide relief and rescue, NDRF and SDRF teams have been despatched to the incident site,” the statement added.

IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop stated, “The helicopter that crashed had taken off for Gaurikund after transporting devotees to Kedarnath.” There were seven passengers onboard. The event occurred in a fairly distant area. Police and SDRF crews have left for the scene.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has responded to the unfortunate occurrence by praying for the safety of all tourists. He stated that SDRF, local administration, and other rescue teams are actively conducting relief and rescue efforts.

“Very sad news has been received regarding a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. The SDRF, local administration, and other rescue teams are involved in relief and rescue activities. “I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all travelers,” posted CM Dhami on X.
