The performance of the S-400 and BrahMos missiles in Operation Sindoor is praised by the Russian delegation.

New Delhi : Russian envoy Denis Alipov stated that India’s S-400 air defense system and the jointly built BrahMos missiles were utilized efficiently during the recent battle with Pakistan, calling its performance as “exemplary”.

S-400 and the BrahMos were actively involved in Operation Sindoor

Speaking to IANS, Alipov revealed that both the S-400 and the BrahMos were actively involved in Operation Sindoor, India’s military operation against terrorist camps in Pakistan. During the post-operation tense period, the S-400 system intercepted Pakistani drones and missiles.

“From what we know, India clearly identified its targets and terrorists prior to carrying out the operation.” During the war, the S-400 system was employed, and BrahMos missiles were launched. “According to reports, their performance was outstanding,” Alipov stated.

While India emphasized that their activities on May 7 were limited to terrorist camps and non-escalatory, Pakistan reacted three days later with a military operation that was successfully defeated by Indian troops.

India and Russia have a long-standing and comprehensive defence partnership

India and Russia have a long-standing and comprehensive defence partnership that includes projects such as licensed production of T-90 tanks and Su-30 MKI fighter jets, supply of MiG-29 and Kamov helicopters, the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, domestic production of AK-203 rifles, and the BrahMos missile system.

Regarding the possibility of acquiring additional S-400 units, Alipov stated, “Our discussions on this topic are ongoing and continuous, but it would be premature to comment on the results at this stage.”

He also emphasized Moscow’s pleasure with the ‘Made in India’ BrahMos missile program, describing it as a successful cooperative venture with “very promising prospects”.

“We are committed to expanding this collaboration, along with other defence projects currently in the pipeline or already underway,” replied Alipov.

This reaffirmation of robust defence relations emphasizes India and Russia’s continued Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
