If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card information in a while, now is the time. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) is offering the opportunity to update Aadhaar information for free. The myAadhaar platform allows users to update their Aadhaar information online. Users can use UIDAI’s free service until June 14, 2025. Users have approximately 11 days remaining to update for free. However, UIDAI had previously extended the deadline for free address updates multiple times.

Which data can be updated for free

You can use this free service to update your proof of identity and proof of address (PoA) online. However, from June 15, 2025, if you visit a physical Aadhaar center to have your information updated, you will be charged Rs 50, which is the same as the present offline payment.

Why did the UIDAI issue this appeal?

UIDAI has specifically requested that people update their Aadhaar, which is 10 years or older and has never been updated before. This ensures that the record’s information remains correct. Using Aadhaar to access any government scheme is not a concern.

How can I update Aadhar card online?

Visit the myAadhaar portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in).
Login with your Aadhaar number and OTP.
Upload a scanned copy of the valid PoI and PoA documents.
Submit the request and record the 14-digit Update Request Number (URN).

What if you merely want to modify the address?

Log in to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal.
Select Proceed to Update Address.
Enter your new address and upload evidence.
Submit and receive the URN.
After the request is approved, you will be able to download your updated Aadhaar card.

Why is Aadhar card critical?

The Government of India issues Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identifying number, to its people. It acts as confirmation of identification and address in a variety of government and private settings, including banks, mobile numbers, and government schemes. The Unique Identification Authority of India, or UIDAI, is responsible for issuing, correcting, and renewing Aadhaar cards. Its goal is to equip all Indian citizens with a reliable digital identification.

You can get free updates till June 14.

If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar yet, you can do it online for free until June 14, 2025. Later, this facility will only be provided in the physical center for a price. So, as soon as feasible, update your online records and ensure their accuracy and security.
