Earthquake in Telangana : A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Telangana, and vibrations were detected in parts of Andhra Pradesh as well

Earthquake in Telangana : On Wednesday morning, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Telangana’s Mulugu district, with vibrations reported in Hyderabad and other parts of Andhra Pradesh. The earthquake occurred at 7:27 a.m., generating alarm among people. The National Seismological Centre provided this information.

There are no early reports of casualties or substantial damage. Officials are assessing the situation, and experts encourage locals to keep alert during earthquakes and avoid crowded or hazardous places.

The National Centre for Seismology stated on X that the EQ of M: 5.3 occurred on 04/12/2024 07:27:02 IST in latitude 18.44 N, longitude 80.24 E, depth 40 km, and location Mulugu, Telangana.

As reported by the Telangana Weatherman, Telangana experienced its most severe earthquake in 20 years, with a magnitude of 5.3 near Mulugu. The user stated that the earthquakes were felt throughout Telangana, including Hyderabad.

Telangana usually has very little seismic activity, however earthquakes are becoming increasingly rare in this region.

India has four earthquake zones: Zone II, III, IV, and V. The seismic activity levels are highest in Zone V and lowest in Zone II. Telangana is located in Zone II, which has a modest level of intensity.

Zone V covers around 11% of the country, followed by Zone IV (18%), Zone III (30%), and Zone II. Earthquakes of various strength strike around 59% of India’s total geographical area (including all states).

An Earthquake with a Richter scale of 2.9 struck Karbi Anglong in Assam.

A 2.9 intensity earthquake struck Karbi Anglong, Assam, late on November 30th. According to the NCS, the earthquake struck at 2:40 a.m., with its epicentre at a depth of 25 km in the Karbi Anglong region.

A 5.8-magnitude Earthquake shook Jammu & Kashmir.

On November 28, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir, however there have been no reports of casualties or property damage.

The Earthquake was registered at 4.19 p.m.

According to officials, the epicentre of the earthquake was located in Afghanistan at 36.49 degrees north latitude and 71.27 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 165 kilometres.
