Mahindra BE 6 : Mahindra & Mahindra, an Indian car manufacturer, took the next step in its electrification journey with the unveiling of two new electric vehicles, the Mahindra BE 6 and the Mahindra XEV 9e. In November 2024, both electric SUVs were released with starting prices of ₹18.90 lakh ex-showroom and ₹21.90 lakh.
The freshly announced Mahindra XEV 9e and Mahindra BE 6e are the first models from the automaker’s electric vehicle-only sub-brands XEV and Born Electric (BE). Interestingly, while both SUVs strive to cater to distinct audiences, their pricing coincide. The Mahindra XEV 9e starts at ₹21.90 lakh, and the mid-spec Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two costs the same. Here’s a short comparison of the two ₹22 lakh SUVs.

The Mahindra XEV 9e Pack One offers a range of conveniences for a price of ₹21.90 lakh. To begin, the base edition of the XEV 9e features lighted logos on the front and rear, as well as bi-LED headlamps and LED taillights. The XEV 9e Pack One is mounted on 19-inch wheels with aero covers.

The XEV 9e’s base variant has fabric upholstery, while higher trim levels have leather upholstery. Furthermore, the XEV 9e Pack One features a triple 12.3-inch screen configuration driven by Mahindra’s Adrenox software. It comprises the touchscreen infotainment system, driver’s display, and co-passenger’s display. The XEV 9e Pack One’s infotainment system, like the BE 6e’s, supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and is powered by a Qualcomm chipset. It also includes pre-loaded shopping, news, and OTT apps with built-in Alexa, as well as several connected features such as cabin precooling and scheduled charging, and is paired with a four-speaker, twin tweeter setup.

The XEV 9e Pack One also includes auto headlamps and wipers, push button start/stop, chilled console storage, rear AC vents, 60:40 split rear seats, and 65W USB-C ports in the front and back, among other features.
In terms of safety, it features disc brakes on all four corners with brake by wire technology, a rear parking sensor with HD video, an automatic parking brake, and a driver drowsiness detection sensor, to name a few.
The Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two costs ₹21.90 lakh ex-showroom. Even though it is a mid-spec model, it has a large number of features. On the outside, the Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two has various features, including sequential turn indicators, a start-up lighting sequence, front fog lamps, cornering lamps, and auto booster lights. The mid-spec model also has front parking sensors.
The interior will be covered in soft fabric. The electric vehicle comes with a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon music system with Dolby Atmos, an NFC key for keyless entry, rear AC vents, and a rear parcel shelf. In terms of safety and driver assistance, the BE 6 has Level-2 ADAS, which includes one radar and one camera for improved driving aid, as well as adaptive cruise control.
Comparison of the Mahindra BE 6 versus the Mahindra XEV 9e: Specifications and Range
The base models of the XEV 9e and BE 6e Pack Two are both powered by a 59 kWh battery pack that drives the 228 horsepower electric motor positioned on the rear axle. This configuration generates 380 Nm. These two electric SUVs have quick charging capability, boasting a 20-80% charge in just 20 minutes utilising a 175 kW DC fast charger. Mahindra claims that the 59 kWh battery pack in the BE 6 can provide a range of 535 km, while the same battery pack in the XEV 9e has a stated range of 542 km.
