Sahkar Taxi Service : On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the central government announced the opening of a new cooperative taxi service called ‘Sahkari Taxi’. Its goal is to offer bicycle, cab, and vehicle services. The debut of this cooperative taxi service will compete with existing online taxi businesses such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido. Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the initiative, claiming that ‘the gain from this service will not go to any large industrialist, but to the drivers’.

The central government’s goal with this move is to establish an alternative transportation service in which drivers can earn money without benefiting large corporations. Union Home Minister and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah announced this plan in Parliament, saying, ‘Sahkari Taxi would register two-wheeler taxis, auto-rickshaws, and four-wheeler taxis across the country’.

Amit Shah stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ is more than simply a slogan. To make it a reality, the Ministry of Cooperation has worked tirelessly over the past three and a half years. The Union Minister further stated that the cooperative taxi service will be launched in the coming months. Unlike commercial enterprises, this government service will ensure that all earnings remain with the drivers, allowing them to get additional financial rewards.
