In December 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,30,117 domestic passenger vehicles, up from 1,04,778 the previous year. Total sales, including sales to other OEMs and exports, amounted to an outstanding 1,78,248 units, a 30% increase year on year. Furthermore, the wholesale growth rate is 24.5%, with retail sales of 17.90 lakh units in CY24, marking an all-time record. The statistic for fiscal year 2023 was 17.43 lakh units. Furthermore, the demand for CNG vehicles has been a significant addition to the entire statistic, with the manufacturer selling a total of 4.52 lah units, representing a 26.3% increase, while penetration has increased from 30.4% to 37%.
Maruti Suzuki Top-selling cars
Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling cars for CY24 was the WagonR, which sold 1.90 lakh units, followed by the Ertiga. The company sold a total of 1.72 lakh Baleno and Swift units. In December, it sold 14,200 hybrid vehicles and 1,500 Jimny models.

Mini segment: Alto and S-Presso
The Mini sector, which includes the Alto and S-Presso, experienced excellent growth, with 7,418 units sold in December 2024, up significantly from 2,557 units sold in the same period last year. This segment’s high success shows its sustained appeal with first-time purchasers and budget-conscious consumers.

Compact Segments: Baleno and Swift
The Compact sector, which includes bestsellers such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, sold an impressive 54,906 units in December 2024, up from 45,741 in December 2023. With over 600,000 units delivered between April and December, the Compact segment remains a key driver of Maruti Suzuki’s sales performance.
Ciaz is a mid-sized segment
The Ciaz mid-size vehicle maintained stable demand in December 2024, with 464 units sold, closely matching the 489 units sold the previous year. This specialised category appeals to buyers looking for a combination of comfort and price.
Sales of utility vehicles are breaking records
The Utility Vehicle (UV) market continues to grow, with 55,651 units sold in December 2024. Models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6 all contributed considerably to this growth, demonstrating Maruti Suzuki’s dominance in the UV segment.

Vans: Eeco maintains popularity
The Eeco, a solid performer in the Vans category, sold 11,678 units in December 2024, up from 10,034 in the same period the previous year. Its convenience and cost make it a popular choice among business purchasers.
Commercial Vehicle: Super Carry
The Super Carry light commercial vehicle (LCV) saw sales of 2,406 units, up from 1,714 in December 2023. This segment’s rise reflects the growing demand for tiny, efficient commercial vehicles.
