Kia Syros will most likely come in India in early or mid-next year, slotting above the Sonet and below the Seltos
Kia plans to launch a new small SUV, codenamed ‘Clavis,’ in India in early to mid-2025. This vehicle, positioned above the Sonet, attempts to increase Kia’s presence in the crowded SUV segment. While the official name has yet to be announced, it is expected to be dubbed ‘Syros,’ a term recently trademarked by the corporation in India.
Over the last few months, the Kia Syros has been sighted being tested in India and around the world. In the compact SUV segment, it will face stiff competition from popular models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and Nissan Magnite.
It has design features such as lofty pillars and upright proportions. The design is projected to have a more roomy cabin and a larger trunk than the Kia Sonet, placing the Syros just below the Seltos in Kia’s lineup. According to reports, the Syros will have numerous engine options, including hybrid and electric variants that could be launched in the future.

The Kia Syros will have an upright front end with a vertical LED lighting system that doubles as turn signals, as well as a clamshell bonnet. It has striking L-shaped LED taillights mounted on the pillars and a busy bumper with additional lighting features. It’ll also have freshly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and integrated roof rails.
In lesser trim levels, it is believed to be powered by the traditional 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 82 horsepower and 114 Nm of peak torque. This engine will most likely be combined with a five-speed manual or an automatic manual transmission. A CNG option may also be offered. Kia is expected to add the more powerful 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 118 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, at higher trim levels.
A look inside the Kia Syros reveals black seats, six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera system, ADAS, a huge sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, automated climate control, ventilated front seats, and more.
