As the Indus water agreement is suspended, a Pakistani minister warns India

Indus Water Agreement : Pakistani Foreign Minister Hanif Abbasi has publicly threatened nuclear reprisal against India. He warned that Pakistan’s missile stockpile, which includes Ghori, Shaheen, and Ghaznavi missiles as well as 130 nuclear warheads, is “only for India,” and that if India cut off Pakistan’s water supply, the country should be prepared for war.

Pakistan spoke after the suspension of Indus Water Agreement

“If they cut off our water supply, they should prepare for war. The military weapons and missiles we have are not for show. Nobody knows where we have deployed our nuclear weapons around the country. I will say it again: all of these ballistic missiles are aimed at you,” Abbasi added, emphasizing Pakistan’s preparedness.

The words come after India launched a series of steps in response to the tragic Pahalgam terror assault, which killed 26 people. India chose to suspend the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and cancel all visas for Pakistani nationals, prompting a reciprocal response from Islamabad.

In response, Pakistan blocked its airspace to Indian flights, causing major disruptions in Indian aviation. Abbasi ridiculed India’s activities, adding, “If things continue like this for another ten days, the Indian airlines will go bankrupt.” He also chastised India for not admitting its security inadequacies in the terror assault, instead blaming Pakistan.

Abbasi’s remark

Abbasi’s remarks also centered on India’s economic measures, including as downgrading diplomatic ties and stopping trade. He added that Pakistan was already planning for the consequences and would oppose any economic measures imposed against it. “We are ready to face any economic actions they take,” he told journalists.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif admitted in an interview

The diplomatic row erupted after Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, admitted in an interview that the country has backed and trained terrorist groups for decades. However, Asif blamed Pakistan’s involvement on the United States and other Western nations, particularly the United Kingdom. “We have been doing this dirty work for the US and the West, including Britain, for three decades,” Asif told me.

Asif further claimed that the Pahalgam incident was part of a larger Indian strategy, accusing India of organizing the attack to incite a regional crisis against Pakistan. He also stated that Lashkar-e-Taiba, an organization linked to the attack, no longer exists, stating, “Lashkar is an ancient name. It doesn’t exist. Our administration has unequivocally denounced the attack in Pahalgam.

The situation remains extremely dangerous, with both countries facing the possibility of greater escalation as tensions escalate over the shared water dispute and regional security concerns.
