New Expressway : Expressway are being built rapidly around the country. In this series, Maharashtra is preparing the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway. The unique feature is that after this 802 km long Expressway is built, a journey that would normally take 18 to 20 hours will take only eight to ten hours.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has applied for environmental clearance again for the 6-lane Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway project. This road project in Maharashtra is being created to connect the state’s important Shaktipeeths, temples, and pilgrimage sites.
The Shaktipeeth Express will go from Pavanar (Wardha district) in Maharashtra to Patradevi on the Maharashtra-Goa border. This expressway will travel through various districts, including Yavatmal, Nanded, Latur, Solapur, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg.

This expressway will be longer than Maharashtra’s 701-kilometer Nagpur-Mumbai expressway .

The expressway is intended to cut the present travel time between Nagpur and Goa from 18-20 hours to 8-10 hours.
The road project has gotten widespread support in Vidarbha and Marathwada, while it is strongly opposed in Sangli and Kolhapur. Because many are concerned about the environmental damage and the loss of agricultural land. However, the state administration is working quickly to address all of these concerns.
