Special Housing Scheme : Poor people in the country’s capital, Delhi, will now be able to buy a home more easily. In reality, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) announced that it will launch a unique housing program for next year, with 110 flats in Vasant Kunj, Dwarka, Rohini, Ashok Pahari, and Jahangirpuri. A 25% discount would be granted on flats located in Narela, Loknayakpuram, and Sirsapur. According to officials, this decision was made during the DDA’s monthly meeting, which was presided over by Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena on that day.

In fact, the DDA has approved three housing plans. This unique housing initiative includes a 25% discount for certain categories on residences in Narela, Sirsapur, and Loknayakpuram. Beneficiaries of the PM-Vishwakarma Yojana, such as labourers building houses and those delivering other civil services, will receive a discount on their purchases.

The unique feature of this DDA special housing program is that it will benefit other poor groups, such as auto-rickshaw drivers, cab drivers, women, SC/ST people, widows, disabled people, ex-servicemen, and those who have received bravery medals.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena stated, “So far, no one has really examined the housing needs of the city’s poorest inhabitants. Surprisingly, construction workers who are building houses for lakhs of people do not have a roof over their heads and must live in tents and huts. This judgement by the authorities will prove to be a historic event in the lives of such persons.”

The DDA will provide seven high-income (3BHK) flats, 58 middle-income (2BHK) flats, and 45 low-income (1BHK) apartments through the Special Housing Scheme 2025. According to officials, the flats in Vasant Kunj will be available through an e-auction and on a first-come, first-served basis in other places. The 25% discount is only available to select groups until March 31, 2025.
