Jimmy Carter was America’s 39th president

Joe Biden mourns loss

Former President Jimmy Carter’s death was lamented by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, who described him as an amazing leader, statesman, and humanitarian.

In his message, Biden stated that Carter laboured for six decades, with compassion and moral clarity, to eradicate sickness, establish peace, advance civil and human rights, support free and fair elections, shelter the homeless, and constantly advocate for the least among us. He saved, raised, and transformed the lives of individuals all around the world.

“He was a person of immense character, courage, hope, and optimism. We shall always enjoy the sight of him and Rosalynn together. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter’s love represents partnership, and their humble leadership represents patriotism. We shall mourn them both profoundly, but take comfort in knowing they are reunited once more and will live on in our hearts forever,” stated Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

President-elect Donald Trump stated that, while he “clearly disagreed” with Carter “philosophically and politically,” he also understood that he sincerely loved and valued “our country and all it stands for.” “He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that, I admire him. He was a very good man, and he will be deeply missed.”He was also far more powerful after quitting the Oval Office than most Presidents,” stated Trump.

Haryana’s Carterpuri was named after Jimmy Carter

A hamlet in Haryana was called Carterpuri in Carter’s honour, and he was the third American president to visit India. He was the US president with the longest lifespan. He was seen as India’s friend. He was the first American president to travel to India after the Emergency ended and the Janata Party was elected in 1977.

As the only American president to visit India personally, he was the third to do so. His mother, Lillian, had served as a Peace Corps health volunteer in India in the late 1960s.

Carter spoke out against authoritarian government during his presentation to the Indian parliament. ” India’s troubles, which we frequently encounter and are typical of developing-world problems, serve as a reminder of the challenges that lie ahead. “Not the authoritarian way,” Carter stated on January 2, 1978.

“The visit was so impressive that village residents nicknamed the region ‘Carterpuri’ and kept in touch with the White House for the remainder of President Carter’s term. The trip left an indelible impression: when President Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, celebrations erupted in the village, and January 3 is still a holiday in Carterpuri,” the Carter Centre said, adding that the visit laid the groundwork for a long-term partnership that has benefited both countries significantly.
