Moscow: A senior general in the Russian armed forces was killed in an explosion in Moscow on Today. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops, was leaving a residential block when a bomb placed in an electric scooter detonated and killed him.
Kirillov’s assistant also passed away in the explosion outside a condominium building on Ryazansky Prospekt, which leads to a road about seven kilometers (4 miles) southeast of the Kremlin, according to Reports.

“Igor Kirillov, a commander of the irradiation chemical and biological protective forces of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, and his assistant were murdered,” the report from the investigation stated.

The explosion comes as Russia’s special military campaign in Ukraine approaches its third anniversary. According to photographs released by Russian media, the explosion destroyed numerous windows in the structure and seriously damaged the front door.
According to the report, the area has been roped off, and a criminal investigation has been launched.

As per an AFP report. Kirillov, who has been in his role since 2017, was sanctioned by Britain in October for allegedly using chemical weapons against Ukraine.
Ukrainian authorities charged him in absentia on Monday with allegedly using illegal chemical weapons in Ukraine, according to the security agency of Ukraine.
