Alaska : When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States, Utqiagvik, Alaska, will only see the sunrise. As much as it may sound figurative, it is physically true as the town enters polar night and the sun does not rise over the horizon for 64 days.
On November 18, over 5,000 residents of Utqiagvik, once known as Barrow, will see their final sunrise.

It is located on Alaska’s North Slope, along the Arctic Ocean, at 71.17 degrees North, approximately 330 miles above the Arctic Circle. This extreme location means that the sun remains below the horizon for roughly two months of the year, resulting in an extended arctic night, according to the Washington Post.

What produces the polar night?
The polar night occurs due to the Earth’s 23.5-degree tilt on its axis. Because of this tilt, some regions on Earth, such as the Arctic Circle (at the highest top of the earth), get either no or all of the sunlight for extended periods of time each year.
When the Polar Circle is tilted away from the sun, it remains dark for an extended period of time, known as polar night. However, when it is angled toward the sun, it remains sunny even at night, a phenomenon known as the midnight sun.
