JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility requirements: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has changed the Joint Entrance Exam 2025 eligibility criteria for both Indian and foreign students. Candidates studying for the entrance exam can consult the official website for detailed information and a thorough understanding of the eligibility requirements. The exam authority has altered the minimal qualifying requirements, which applicants should be aware of before submitting their applications. This comprises the projected performance in the JEE Mains test, age limit, number of attempts, appearance in the Class 12th exam, earlier admission to IITs, and so on for eligibility to sit the JEE advanced exam.
According to the updated eligibility criteria, there have been more than three attempts at the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. Earlier, there were only two. Candidates studying for JEE Advanced 2025 can view the updated JEE Advanced 2024 eligibility requirements below.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Indians
To be eligible for the exam, students must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful applicants (all categories combined) in JEE (Main) 2025’s B.E./B.Tech. paper (Paper I).

The percentages of the various types of applicants to get selected are as follows:

The table following shows the order in which the top 2,50,000 applicants in various categories will be selected based on their performance in the JEE (Main) 2025 B.E./B.Tech. test.
Notably, according to the decision dated February 3, 2023, passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021, OCI/PIO candidates who obtained their OCI/PIO cards before 04.03.2021 will be deemed Indian nationals for seat allotment to IIT. Except for OPEN PwD, these candidates are ineligible for any type of reservation benefit (for example, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST).

Applicants should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD applicants are eligible for a five-year age relaxation, which means they must have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

A candidate may attempt JEE (Advanced) three times in three consecutive years.
Appearing in the Class XII (or equivalent) exam: A candidate must have taken the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023, 2024, or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects.
Earlier admission to IITs: The applicant must not have been accepted to an IIT under any academic course of study listed in the JoSAA Business Rules of 2024 or earlier, irrespective of whether the candidate continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting ”online”/at a “reporting centre” in the past.
