MS Dhoni : CSK franchise is trying to expand its player retention strategy after former captain MS Dhoni revealed his aspirations for the IPL in the future. Dhoni recently stated that he intends to enjoy the last few years of his cricket career.
“I simply want to enjoy every moment of cricket that I can play,” Dhoni told . “When you play cricket as a professional sport, it’s difficult to enjoy it as a game.” That is what I would like to do. It’s difficult.
“The emotions continue to flow, and the commitments remain. I hope to continue enjoying the game for the next few years. I have to stay in shape for nine months in order to play in the IPL for two and a half months. You should plan ahead of time, but also relax,” he added.
Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the franchise, has now spoken out about the development. “What else do we want (when he’s ready). “We are pleased,” Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.
According to the report, Dhoni would call the team owner, N Srinivasan, to finalise the list of retentions. The final deadline to confirm retentions is October 31, and franchises can keep up to six players, with a maximum of five capped.
Dhoni would remain uncapped after the IPL Governing Council reinstated the regulation that had been suspended in 2021. The five-time champions plan to pay Dhoni INR 4 crore for the forthcoming season. “A certified Indian player shall become uncapped if, in the five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant Season is played, the player has not appeared in the starting XI in International Cricket (Test match, ODI, Twenty20 International) or does not hold a Central Contract with the BCCI.” The rule states that this will only be applicable to Indian players.
