Google Pixel 10 :The Google Pixel 9 series was unveiled last month, and speculation regarding its successor, the Pixel 10 series, has already begun. The codenames for the purported Pixel 10 devices have leaked. The Pixel 10 is supposed to be codenamed ‘Frankel’, and other rumored handsets in the next series have also been given similar names. According to the source, four new models will be released next year, continuing the trend started by the Pixel 9 lineup.
The Google Pixel 10 Series’ codenames have leaked
According to Android News, the Google Pixel 10 series will have four models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 PRO Fold. They go by the codenames Frankel, Blazer, the Mustang formulation, and Rango. According to the the insider, Google may launch a foldable smartphone again next year.
This development follows past leaks that disclosed the codename for the Google Pixel 9a, the company’s lone smartphone set to launch before the Pixel 10 series next year. The Pixel 9a is slated to be released in May next year and may be codenamed ‘Tegu’. It will join the Pixel 9 series as the company’s most recent smartphone lineup, just as it has before.
However, Google may shake things up next year by introducing an older CPU with its low-cost Pixel 9a.
The Google Pixel 10 Chipset
In addition to codenames, a prior rumor stated that Google may have completed the design of the Tensor G5 chipset that will power the Pixel 10 line. It is thought to have reached the “tape out” stage, which implies the Mountain View-based tech behemoth can now create and thoroughly test it in a foundry.
Unlike the previous four generations, which were based on a Samsung Exynos chip, the Tensor G5 is believed to be entirely created in-house. It is expected to be manufactured on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm node (N3E), simplifying the initial N3B process.
For 2025, it looks that the same plans are in place.
Android Headlines has disclosed five codenames that are said to be used for incoming Pixel devices: the Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The code names are as follows:
Pixel 9A – Tegu
Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro models: Frankel and Blazer, respectively.
Pixel 10 Pro XL (Mustang) and Pixel 10 Pro Fold (Rango).
The “Tegu” codename for the Pixel 9a has already been revealed, and it is consistent with the reptile theme used throughout the Pixel 9 series. The term “tegu” refers to a lizard species found in Central and South America. The Pixel 9 is “Tokay,” the Pixel 9 Pro is “Caiman,” and the Pixel 9 Pro XL is “Komodo.”
Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 series’ codenames shift from reptiles to horses.
